The Death of EDRMSs – long live Process Review
April 1, 2008
One of the perks of my job is that I get to attend some excellent events of which todays TFPL Sharepoint Summit was one of them. The day basically evolved around the use of Sharepoint within private and public organisations across the UK. Sharepoint seems to signal the death of the EDRMS but then I also can’t ultimately see how Sharepoint is any different – see my colleagues blog RM Futurewatch for more.
The main benefits coming out of any implementation seemed to be down to the review of processes, identification of functional requirements and in all honesty – good project management. The chair (Adrian Dale) summed it up perfectly for me in saying: “There is no such thing as an Information Technology/Management project, only business projects that are supercharged by IT/IM.”. Success was not down to Sharepoint, it was down to some excellent analysis, planning and innovation from project leaders!
