ASUS EEE

January 19, 2008

I think the idea of this gizmo is awesome. The ASUS EEE is the next big thing in my opinion with regards to the move to on-line applications. For around £200 not only do you get a laptop but a one that is fully aligned to support on-line collaboration. The operating system to my knowledge is Linux based so there’s potentially quite a lot you can add however the main role is to get you on-line. From there you can begin to take full advantage of the web 2.0 generation of web applications. Manage your images using Flickr, record your thoughts via wordpress or blogger, manage documents using Zoho or Google Docs and communicate with friends via social networking sites such as Facebook or MySpace. Brilliant. Now in my first ever post I used my mobile phone to do the exact same thing I’ve just explained however it’s not great for typing and it’s hard to navigate round a site due to screen size. If I had some spare cashola I’d definitely give this baby a go but for now my mobile phone does the job just fine.
